Served in the US Navy during World War II onboard USS SWALLOW where h e continued a distinguished amateur boxing career that he previously established in Chester, Pennsylvania, United States; member of Aston VFW Post 926 & Our Lady of Charity Church

Enjoyed singing, country music, coaching little league, bowling & golf

Son of the late Olaf & Agnes Miles Halvorsen; Father of the late Kristine Halvorsen Watkins & Gerard Halvorsen; Brother of the late William & Charles Halvorsen, Grace Halvorsen, Carrie Koechert & Mill Fulmer

Husband of (60 years) Mary Anne Beardsley Halvorsen; Father of Olaf, Michael, Anne Marie, Kathy & Ginny; Brother of Terry, Helen, Dot & Stella

Terry Allen Halvorsen, age 78 of Trainer, PA died suddenly on February 17, 2016 at home.

Born in Chester, PA to the late Olaf & Agnes Miles Halvorsen, he was a lifelong resident of Trainer, PA. A Machinist & Tool Maker, he was employed with Westinghouse for 25 years and later retired from General Motors in 1999 after 15 years of service.

Terry, a master horseshoe player, belonged to NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitchers Association). He was a local country musician, singing under the name of "Tuneful Terry/Trio". He also volunteered his musical services at many churches, local nursing homes & veterans associations, specifically Lutheran Knolls. He was known as an avid Phillies Fan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 9 siblings, Charles, Wilbert & Olaf Halvorsen, Jr., Louise, Grace, and Lena Mae Halvorsen, Mildred Fulmer, Carrie Koechart, and Helen Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sallie (Viscuso) Halvorsen, five children, Terry A. (Deane) Halvorsen, Jr., Sharon (Bruce) Adams, Roberta (John) Franchetti, Kimberly Halvorsen and Jason Halvorsen, 7 grandchildren, Ryan (Cate) Kelly, Daniel & Crystal Adams, Eric (Sarah) Halvorsen, Mark, Corey & Connor Halvorsen, 5 step grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Loeffler & Estelle Hermann.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 7:00-9:00PM and Tuesday, February 23 from 10-11:00AM at Moreland-Pagano Funeral Home, 825 Main Street, Trainer, PA. Services will follow at 11:00AM. Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Donations in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
